Don't Limit God
Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel. Psalm 78:41 (NKJV)
There are many ways to limit God. Let’s discuss a few examples.
We can limit God by our own thinking. When we think contrary to God’s Word, we limit Him. For instance, God says He will never leave us, but we might think we are all alone. His ability to help us is then limited because we don’t acknowledge He is even there.
We can limit God with our words. When thoughts are expessed verbally, they acquire more power than if we never said them. God may say that we are capable, but if our words never agree with His, we will never walk in that capability.
Our actions can limit God. When our actions are against God’s Word, He cannot bless us.
Our opinion of ourselves and our abilities can limit God. When we look at our own perceived limitations and think and say things like, “I’m not…,” “I can’t…,” “I don’t have…,” we put limits on God. We might be limited in and of ourselves, but whatever we lack, God is more than enough. With Him, we are smarter and stronger. He’s our ability. We need to allow God to work in and through us.
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26 (NKJV)
We can take the limits off by simply believing God. When we believe the God of the impossible, He makes the impossible things possible. We can change our thinking by renewing our minds to the Word of God. Then our thinking will not limit God. As we focus our thinking on the Bible, our words will line up with it. Praying in the Spirit is a great way to take the limits off God because our minds cannot get in the way of what we are praying.
The possibilities really are limitless with God. Our past cannot limit Him because he has a good future for us. Our broken dreams cannot limit Him because He does new things. Our pain and physical ailments cannot limit Him because He’s the Healer.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
Believe God. Pray big prayers. Make big requests. Let His power work in, through, and for you. Have big expectations. Praise Him more and experience more of the power and presence of God. Take the limits off God one thought at a time, one word at a time, one day at a time. Don’t limit God; tap into a life without limits.
