Life Always Wins
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV)
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:25 (KJV)
Jesus stated very clearly that He is not just the Source of life, He is Life itself. As a matter of fact, because He is life, He could not be killed. Death has no power over life. That is why He had to lay down his life- it could not be taken from Him.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. John 1:4 (KJV)
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. John 10:15 (KJV)
In John 11, we read the account of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead.
And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. John 11:43-44 (KJV)
Did you notice that Jesus called Lazarus up from the tomb by name? I have heard it preached that if Jesus had not specifically called Lazarus by name, that the power of life in Him was so great, that all the dead people would have been resurrected! I believe it. When Life speaks, death must bow its knee.
There is no death in Life. In the same way that there is no darkness in light. Light is never overcome by darkness. When you turn on a light, the darkness flees. You cannot turn on the darkness and make light flee. And you cannot overcome life with death. That is why we no longer have to fear death. Jesus Christ, Life Himself, defeated death once and for all. And we have that same Life living inside us. We cannot be conquered by death- everlasting Life is ours!
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 (New Living Translation, NLT)
