The Down Payment
There are many things in the Christian life that requires us to walk out our faith. In other words, most of the time, we don’t see an instantaneous manifestation. This is especially true if you have been walking with the Lord for a while. The miracles that the Lord will do to encourage a new believer are eventually replaced by the requirement to grow, develop, and use your own faith to get your manifestation.
Even for a mature believer, there can be times where the enemy tries to tell us that we will never see the manifestation of the promise in our lives. The passage of time, combined with the lies of the devil, can try to wear on us. It is up to us to encourage ourselves in our faith. We must look at past victories and know that what God did before, He can easily do again. We must double up on our efforts to be in the Word, speaking the Word, listening to anointed preaching of the Word. Our lives must be consumed by the Word, the Word, the Word. This is because more than anything else in the world, the Word cannot fail.
So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Once you have been speaking the Word and living immersed in the Word of God for a while, it may still seem like absolutely nothing is happening. And the enemy will hit your mind hard with thoughts of doubt and unbelief. That is the point in time where the breakthrough is about to come. And if you will press a bit further, you will see a glimmer of light- a slice of hope. It may be that one of your symptoms seems less severe. Or it may be that you get a small financial blessing or a bill that you have to pay is smaller than you anticipated. That is something to grasp onto. That is the beginning of the manifestation. Don’t miss it because you are looking for something big and grand- see it for the breakthrough that it is. It is evidence that God is working. Stand on it and use it to encourage yourself to continue on in faith.
If you will grab onto that small glimmer of light, you will see it shine brighter and brighter until the full manifestation has come. So, do not despise the small thing that has begun- it is just the start - the down payment of everything God has promised.
