How God Heals- Part 1

How God Heals- Part 1

Sickness is not God’s desire for man. He wants us well and healthy, and we are going to look at some of the ways He makes healing available to us.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (KJV)

Jesus Christ paid for mankind’s healing at the cross. What He suffered and bore for us, we do not have to deal with. For sickness, Christ has provided healing and health. For stress, He has given us peace. For pain, He has given us healed, pain-free bodies. As we believe and receive what He purchased for us, we can be healed and made whole.

God heals by His Word.

John 1:1-3, 14 tells us that Christ is the Word of God, and Psalms 107 :20 says that God sent His Word and healed and delivered us. As we get in His Word and take it like medicine, it will be life to all that find it, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22). We are to stay in and stand on the Word of God until healing manifests. As we speak the Word, it will not return void, but it will work and bring healing. And God’s Word is incorruptible, meaning it cannot be destroyed. When we plant the seed of the Word in our hearts by reading it and confessing it out loud, we will reap a harvest of healing and good health.

And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.  When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel…. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Matthew 8:5-10, 13 (KJV)

God heals by the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 (New Living Translation, NLT)

In the same way that the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead, He will heal our bodies that we have now. As the Holy Ghost gave life to Christ’s body, He will give life to our bodies, healing and raising us up from sickness to health. II Corinthians 4:11 says that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh, or in our bodies. The Holy Spirit will infuse us with the same life-giving power that rasied Jesus from the dead.

Healing comes by faith.

First, we hear the Word of God, which brings faith. Then we speak the Word. Next, We believe the Word, and then we act on it. Finally, we receive what we desired from the Word.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is our evidence of God’s Word and power. We confess the Word and we continue to confess it to maintain our stand of faith until we see the fulfillment of the promise.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23 (KJV)

Matthew 9 tells us about a woman who had an issue, or flow, of blood for twelve years.

And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. Matthew 9:20-22 (KJV)

She said what she heard about Jesus over and over, then she acted on what she believed by pushing through the crowd to touch Jesus’ garment. And she received wholeness. Wholeness speaks of getting back what was lost- with nothing missing and nothing broken. She got her health back, her life back, her finances back, her relationships back… she got it all. And so can we!
