Giving Back to the Givers
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 (KJV)
Takers take, but givers gain.
We need to look out for the givers that God has placed in our lives. The thing about givers is that they love to give- it is their heart. It’s what they love to do, but we must be watchful and protective of them so they are not taken advantage of. As a matter of fact, we must watch out that we don’t take advantage of them ourselves.
We’ve all had people come to us for help because they knew we would help them out. But there is a time to say yes and a time to say no. When we’ve been taken advantage of, we must not take offense, but offer it up to God as a seed, and God will pay us back.
What I want to address today are the givers that help us out. We must pay special attention that we help them as well so they do not become depleted, overworked, and weary. It is up to us to help them out so they can last and be productive for many years. Givers have a tendency to want to reach out to everyone and we should be protective of them. It may be tempting to receive from them whenever they offer, but we must be mindful not to be constantly taking and never giving. Yes, there are times to receive what they offer so they may receive a harvest off of what they have given. However, some people may give beyond what God has directed them to because they simply like to give. And sometimes people give in order to be liked and accepted, which is not healthy for them.
Let’s begin to do our part to give to the givers. Let’s lift them up and encourage them by giving back to them, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. And as we give to them, it will also be given back to us. If the Lord is dealing with you today about giving to someone, don’t resist. Just give and bless the giver with the fruit that abounds to them from their giving.
