Choose Life

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! Deuteronomy 30:19 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Every person on earth has the God-given ability to choose. It is part of what makes mankind higher than all of creation. One of the choices we have that is put before us is whether to choose life or abortion. God was pretty clear in Deuteronomy, when given the choice between life and death, we should always choose life.

To date, more than 60 million babies have been aborted in America. Consider that number. And to God, one is too many. At the moment of conception, every person is created by God and He has plans for a good life for them.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:13-16 (New Living Translation, NLT)

No matter what you may hve been told, this passage makes it perfectly clear that a baby in the womb is a living person in the eyes of God- a person with a purpose and plan attached to them. To snuff out that life is murder- plain and simple.

Maybe you have had an abortion, or maybe you worked in the abortion industry. God is a loving God and if you turn to Him, He is ready to forgive you. He will not hold anything against us when we come to Him and ask Him to forgive our sin. Don’t avoid Him; run to Him and let Him take you in His loving arms and remove all the guilt and condemnation.

Maybe you haven’t had an abortion, but you haven’t been against abortion in general. Or maybe you believe it is wrong, but you haven’t taken a stand. Maybe you have even voted for people who support laws the make abortion available. Let me very blunt. Any person who knowingly votes for someone who is pro-abortion has the blood of murdered infants on their hands. If that offends, you, so be it. But it must be said. To allow the murder of babies in the womb is a sin that God abhors. Ancient Israel offered up their own children to false gods and they were judged severely for it. It’s time for Christians to repent and decide to choose life and those who support life.

Let’s all be on the Lord’s side and choose life. Vote for candidates that oppose abortion. More than the economy, more than foreign policy, more than any issue, God is most interested in the issue of abortion because God is life. Let’s choose life- so that we and our descendants might live.
