The Imposter King
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom. And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest: and they following Adonijah helped him. But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men which belonged to David, were not with Adonijah. I Kings 1:5-8 (KJV)
There was a brief period in Israel’s history when the nation had two kings. Solomon was decreed by King David to rule, amd Adonijah appointed himself as king. One was the legitimate heir to the throne. The other was an imposter.
Once King David got wind of it, for he was not yet dead when Adonijah decided to declare himself king, he established Solomon as the rightful king and placed him on the royal throne. David died and Solomon ruled. And Adonijah, and those who were with him in his conspiracy to take the throne, were eventually killed.
But, notice in the passage above that not everyone went along with Adonijah when he attempted to steal the throne. There was a handful that did not go along, but stood with the rightful heir to the throne. A remnant stood for the true king and a remnant was all that was needed, because they had the backing of King David.
We have a similar situation today. We stand with the rightful Commander-In-Chief and we do not bow to the imposter attempting to rule. And God, who placed Solomon on the throne and ushered in many years of peace and prosperity for Israel, will now place our true leader back where he belongs. God does not look kindly on deceit, trickery, and theft. And those who have perpetrated such things will feel the justice of Almighty God.
These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJV)
Consider all the things from that passage that have been at work in the nation in recent days. Every single one of those things that God detests have been openly displayed, and God will not sit idly by and allow the charade to continue. Pray for those involved, for they will feel the justice of God in short order, and it will not be pleasant. The imposter is about to be dealt with by the hand of God.
