Renewing Our Vitality

Are you tired and worn out? Probably the majority of people would answer yes to that question, Christians included. For the child of God, what is the answer to overcoming fatigue and general weariness?

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become tired or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who has no might He increases power. Even youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, but those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; they will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired. Isaiah 40:28-31 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

Most of us are aware that God is never tired and He is an endless source of energy and vitality. The simple answer to beating fatigue lies in a vibrant relationship with God. When we commune daily with the Source of all power and might, we plug into the true Energizer.

As this scripture passage says, physical fatigue happens to everyone, even the young. However, when we wait on the Lord and abide in His presence, our vitality is renewed and we are strengthened- especially in the inner man.

The real key to it all is consistency. The Amplified Bible defines waiting on the Lord as expecting, looking for and hoping in Him. The only way to stay in a state of expectation and hope is to spend time daily with Him in His Word and in prayer and worship. If we just hit and miss on our time with Him, we won’t continue to wait on the Lord, and then our strength is not as fully renewed as it could be. That is when we begin to be fatigued and worn out. And if you are someone who rarely gets in the Word and prays only when you need help- then you are likely very tired indeed.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

And do not be worried, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and your stronghold. Nehemiah 8:10 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

These two scriptures make it clear where we get our strength. When we spend time in the presence of God, He gives us joy. And in turn, His joy is our strength. Therefore, no presence of God means no joy which means no strength. Get the picture?

We overcome fatigue and weariness through personal encounters with God every day. By maintaining time with God as a priority in our daily lives, we can walk in strength and victory.
