How Can Anyone Reject Jesus?

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.  Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.  But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:6-8 (New Living Translation, NLT)

It astounds me that the God of the universe, the One who created the earth and everything on the earth, including all the people, would do what He did. God’s power is unparalleled. Nothing can rival Him. Yet He purposely allowed the very people He created- the ones who rebeled against Him- to kill Him. If you really sit and ponder how great the Lord is- in His ability, His wisdom, His might. And then consider that He came to earth as one of us. There is no way to comprehend how much Jesus lowered Himself when He became a human. And we certainly cannot grasp the amount of love that made Him sacrifice Himself for the rebellious, sinful people who mocked and brutally murdered Him. To be honest, He could have squashed mankind like a bug, but He didn’t.

And to top it off, Jesus had to pay the full price for our sin, which meant He had to suffer in hell. Most people focus on what He endured on the cross, but the cross was only the beginning of Christ’s suffering. Once He died, He descended into the depths of hell. He experienced untold torture and agony- the likes of which we cannot even fathom. Our minds honestly cannot imagine the horrors He went through. And He did it for us.

How can anyone reject Jesus? How can anyone think that He doesn’t love them? How can anyone say that He hasn’t done enough for mankind? What more could He do? He literally paid the ultimate price- His own life- for us. There is nothing greater He could have done. There is nothing left to do. No act of heroism could surpass it. It cannot be topped. And all He wants in return is you.

If you havent’ accepted Jesus as your Savior, it isn’t difficult. It is just a matter of believing He died and rose again, and saying it with your mouth (see Romans 10). Our website includes a sample prayer you can say to receive Him as your very own Savior and Lord. Don’t hesitate. He’s accomplished the ultimate act of heroism, and He loves you more than anything. Come to Him today.
