Three Benefits of Giving

Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) II Corinthians 9:10 (KJV)

God gives us seed to sow to:

  1. Minister bread for your food. This refers to our daily bread; our daily provision. In other words, God will feed you if you are a giver. Jesus said for us to pray for our daily bread, referring to natural bread. However, He also said that man cannot live by bread alone but by God’s Word, which is our daily spiritual bread.

  2. Multiply your seed sown. When we sow, God gives increase for more seed to sow and to provide for your needs. The seeds we sow will bring a supernatural increase, and we will accomplish more by giving than we could by our own effort. Sowing is the better way to receive, instead of striving to get things.

  3. Increase the fruits of your righteousness. This speaks of spiritual growth. Righteousness will produce many things in our lives: peace, joy, blessings, favor, a closer walk with God, victory over sin, etc. Righteousness produces a harvest for us. When you increase in righteousness, you don’t become more right with God- if you’re saved, you’re as righteous as you’ll ever be. Rather, the fruit, or what is produced from your righteousness, will increase. Righteousness has fruits- rewards and blessings- that you can enjoy.

God gives us seed to sow so we can receive these benefits. You never lose when you choose to give.
