Authority: Working WITH Christ

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18 (KJV)

Power is the Greek word exousia, which actually means authority, or the right to exercise power. It speaks of the power to rule or govern, the power of one whose will and command must be obeyed by others.

We see that Christ has ALL authority. He got back what Adam lost to satan. In turn, Jesus gave man authority in the earth again. Yet, we must remember that Jesus still has authority as well, so He can act as He sees fit. Christ Himself is seated at the right hand of God, a place and position of authority and rulership.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1 (KJV) emphasis mine

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:20-23 (KJV)

Jesus Christ is the Head, and we are His body. Christ works through His body. However, if His body won’t do what the Head tells it to do, the Head will step in and use His authority. That being said, it is His preference to work through His body to accomplish His plans (Ephesians 3:20).

My point is that while Jesus has given us authority in the earth, Jesus Himself still has authority to operate in the earth because He became a man. He is both God and man at the same time. He has legal authority in the earth. He chooses to work through His body in partnership, but if His people will not do what He commands, Jesus can step in and do the will of the Father.
