Jesus Christ, Our Ark of Safety
We will face many storms in life, but we can weather any storm as long as we stay “in Christ,” our ark of safety.
And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Genesis 7:1 (KJV)
God warned Noah about the coming flood and told him to build an ark, and he did (Genesis 6:22). Then, once it was built and all was ready, God told Noah and his family to come into the ark. God had prepared for them an ark of safety. They rode out the storm and were protected as long as they remained in the ark.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Hebrews 11:7 (KJV)
By faith, Noah prepared an ark because God instructed hm to do so, even though there had never been rain on the earth. God will tell us to do certain things that we have to do by faith, not understanding or knowing why. Eventually, what Noah prepared for by faith became a reality when rain began to fall.
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; II Peter 2:5 (KJV)
Noah and his family, a total of eight people, were saved. Eight in the Bible speaks of new beginnings. God always has a new beginning for those who trust him and remain in the ark of safety. The Ark of Noah was a picture of Jesus Christ, and how He is our place of safety and protection. Those who enter into Christ and remain in Him shall be blessed and protected. Those who are outside of Christ are actually under the curse (death, sickness, poverty, and every misery).
We see similar symbolism in Acts 27. The Apostle Paul was on a ship that got caught in a terrible storm. Inspired by God, Paul told the men onboard that if they remained on the ship, no lives would be lost. They did as he instructed and went through the storm with no loss of life.
Jesus is our ark, our ship of safety in the midst of any storm. We will go through storms, but as long as we remain in Christ, we will make it through to the other side. We’ll reach our destiny, and, ultimately, we will make it to the shores of heaven.
When we are in Christ, the ark of safety, Jesus is in us, and He is with us in our boat. He will steer us through the storms of life, and we will come out victoriously every time. So, keep sailing. Sail on through smooth and rough waters. No matter what happens, we win when we remain in the ark of safety, Jesus Christ.
