Reminded of the Promises

Sometimes we look at the people and events surrounding the crucifixion and we marvel at how the disciples acted. The simple truth is that they did not take note of or remember what Jesus had already told them, or they would have reacted very differently.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. Jesus had spoken to His followers about His crucifixion, death and resurrection. In the midst of the fearful events that transpired at Passover, they had forgotten what He had said. Jesus had already told them the end of the story so they would not fear. The grief and hopelessness they felt during the three days that His body was in the tomb could have been avoided if they had only remembered His words- and believed them.

While we live in the life and blessing of the risen Lord, let us always remember the Words of Jesus, full of promise and overflowing with love. When we stay in the Scriptures and remember His words, we are ever reminded of the promises that are ours, of the love of the Father, and of the victory that has already been won. As we remember the words of Jesus, we understand the power and authority that we walk in and the inheritance of the saints.

Here are some of His words that would should always be mindful of.

I am He who lives, though I was dead. Look! I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Revelation 1:18 (Modern English Version, MEV)

We no longer have to fear death. It has no rule over us.

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Jesus is with us everywhere and at all times. We are never alone.

And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. Mark 1:40-42 (KJV)

Jesus is compassionate, and it is His will to heal.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (New International Version, NIV)

Supernatural peace is ours and we never need to fear.

I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. Mark 11:23-24 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Faith-filled words can move mountains, and we can have what we say.

Jesus has risen, and His shed blood has sealed and ratified what He said. When we remember His words, we remember what His death, burial and resurrection purchased for us. Remember His words, believe them, and you’ll always walk in victory.
