Work is a God Thing
The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. Deuteronomy 28:8 (KJV)
The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. Deuteronomy 28:12 (KJV)
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:3 (KJV)
According to Deuteronomy 28:1-2, if we listen to God’s voice and do His commands, or His Word, certain blessings will overtake us. We will be blessed in whatever we do and wherever we are. We need to start where we are and put our hands to whatever God has put in front of us. Then, God can bless it. When the blessing of God is on a person or an activity, it will work and succeed. Work is one of those things. When we work, God can bless our work. In working, we are giving God something to work with.
According to Deuteronomy 28:8, what we put our hands to will be blessed. The blessing is an empowerment to prosper. It is divine ability and enablement to succeed. As a child of God, you are too blessed to fail.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
God made us to work. Do your work as unto God and others will see your good works and glorify your heavenly Father. When we work and do it well, with excellence, it sets a good example for others and opens the door to share Christ.
As we celebrate this labor Day in the United States, let’s remember that work is a God thing, and He blesses it. God Himself worked six days and rested on the seventh, giving us an example to follow. Work may not always be pleasant or our favorite thing to do, but as we offer it to God, He will bless it and cause it to prosper.
