He's Saving The Best For Last
And the man in charge drank some of the water that had now turned into wine. He did not know where the wine had come from, but the servants did. He called the bridegroom over and said, “The best wine is always served first. Then after the guests have had plenty, the other wine is served. But you have kept the best until last!” John 2:9-10 (Contemporary English Version, CEV)
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job 8:7 (KJV)
Many of you have been standing in faith for some things for a long time. Maybe you are believing to go into fulltime ministry. Possibly you’ve been looking to attend Bible college or some specialized training. Maybe you’ve been looking for a job that better suits you or for advancement in your current job. You may wanting to retire and travel the world. Perhaps you are believing for a spouse, or you are married and hoping to have children. Maybe you feel forgotten, even invisible. You feel like nothing in your life has worked out the way you wanted it to. You think your entire life has been lived in the shadows- you feel unrecognized, unfulfilled, and uncelebrated. And it has been many years of waiting… waiting for the things you believe God has promised and it doesn’t look like they will ever come to pass. Don’t lose hope. Don’t give up the faith. Keep standing. God saves the best for last.
When Jesus went to the wedding in Cana, He turned the water into wine and the person in charge of the feast noted that the best wine had been saved for the end of the feast. God has promised many amazing things that have been held in reserve for the last days- the end times- the times in which we are living! And He has some promises for you and me that are going to be fulfilled- if we will keep believing.
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Let’s face it, one of the hardest things for us to do is to wait. It gets especially difficult if we thought something was going to happen in a certain timeframe and it did not go as we thought. And the enemy loves to torment us with thoughts of “Didn’t God promise to do such and such for you?” The devil is an accuser and a liar, and he peddles discouragement and doubt. We must remain strong and steadfast in our faith because God does not go back on His Word, and His promises are always fulfilled if we stick with Him.
Everything that God does, He does at the perfect time. We must trust that in order to keep standing and believing. God really does bring the greatest blessing at the end- when those who have been faithful for a long time have waited and trusted Him. You will not go unrewarded for waiting on Him, and you’ll be glad you decided to keep believing. Good things do come to those who wait. Be encouraged- God truly is saving the best for the last. Your promise is going to manifest and your best days are ahead of you.
