Jesus Must Needs Go Where You Are

Jesus Must Needs Go Where You Are

And he must needs go through Samaria. Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. John 4:4-5 (KJV)

Jesus needed to go through Samaria, and on His way, He and his disciples came to a small village called Sychar. Why did they have to go this way? Because there was a woman who lived in Sychar that needed to encounter the Savior. The disciples went into the city to buy food and Jesus decided to rest at Jacobs’ Well. The woman came to draw water, and we learn that she had tried many relationships and was still thirsty for true love. She needed to meet Christ so He could show her the Father and demonstrate to her that God was aware of her and where she was. This is what many would call a divine appointment. She needed Jesus for she was lost. God got her attention when Jesus gave her a Word that exposed facts about her lifestyle. She called Him a prophet, but then found out He was much more than a prophet; that He was the Messiah.

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? John 4:19-29 (KJV)

Jesus revealed His identity to her and she left her water pot and went to tell others all Jesus had revealed to her. She proclaimed Christ and it brought revival to Samaria.

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. John 4:39-42 (KJV)

The people of that region found Christ, the Savior of the the world. Jesus had need to go through Samaria to reach the people of Sychar. Jesus has need of us to reach others. Jesus knows who we are, where we are, and what we are doing. He will reach us, reveal Himself to us, save us, and meet our needs. Jesus must needs go where we are to establish a relationship with us. As a result, we will know and worship the Father in spirit and truth.
