Listen For His Wisdom
Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. Proverbs 1:5 (New International Version, NIV)
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 (New International Version, NIV)
When we don’t listen to God is when we hurt ourselves. When we know what’s right and do wrong or when we listen to the wrong voices, leading us away from God and His way, this is when we end up with problems that could have been avoided. God’s wisdom is always right. As we listen to what God says, it will save us a lot of wasted time, pain, and regret. Listening to God leads to a life worth living. God’s wisdom will preserve us, our health, our relationships, all we set out to be and do.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: I Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
Because Jesus is made unto us wisdom and Jesus is the Word (John 1:1, 14), we know that God always speaks wisdom. When we listen to Him, we know what to do and how to do it.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)
Wisdom is living right for God, fearing Him with respect and reverence. When we choose His wisdom over what we know or want, we choose to live by God’s Word. We choose His Word over our own ways or the ways of the world. When we listen to God’s wisdom, we’ll say no to sin, satan, and the world system. Instead, we’ll say yes to God and how He does things- based on His Word and His righteous rule. The kingdom of God is based on the wisdom of the Lord, which is what we bring to earth when we listen to God’s wisdom. The more we listen, the more our lives will go in the right direction. The less we listen, the more we suffer the consequences.
Turn your ear to the Holy Spirit, listening for His whisper in your heart- giving you the wise Words of God. He speaks the wisdom of the ages and wants you to benefit from it. As we hear, trust, and follow God, He will lead us in the path that leads us to fulfill His plan. His wisdom is what we need.
