Look To The One Who Was Lifted Up
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14-15 (KJV)
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said, signifying what death he should die. John 12:32-33 (KJV)
Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. Numbers 21:7-9 (KJV)
Always look to the Lord- in good times and bad. He knows what we need. Only He can give us what we require, leaving no need unmet.
When family fails us, when friends forsake us, when our faults cause us to fail, we must not look around or even at ourselves. We must look up. Lift up your eyes to the Lord, from whence cometh your help. When life hurts, look to Jesus and be healed. When you feel lost, look to Jesus to be saved. When you’re alone, see the One who’s always been there for you.
When you feel afraid, discouraged, or in despair, look to Jesus. You’ll find He’s your hope. You can trust Jesus to make things right and to help you be and do better. He will change you from the inside-out. As you look to Jesus in God’s Word and by the Holy Spirit, you will see things turn around. As Jesus was lifted up on the cross, we can look and see Him as our Savior, Helper, Provider, and Healer.
The serpent that Moses placed on the pole to stop the death brought by the bite of serpents is a type of Jesus being crucified. Jesus was lifted up on the cross. As we look to Him, we too can be healed, made whole, and delivered from all that comes against us from that serpent, the devil. Look up. Look to the One who was lifted up!
