Healing for Any Issue
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. Mark 5:25-34 (KJV)
This woman had an issue of blood for twelve years. Many of us have had long-term issues; some of us most of our lives. In King James language, they used the word issue, which would probably be better defined as flow. Her issue was physical- she had a flow of blood, or hemorrhaging. We have problems that show up and begin to flow forth. Our hurts, anger, insecurities, weaknesses, flaws, and deep-rooted issues eventually come forth and cause problems for us. As a result, we often end up driving people away, much like this woman who had to remain isolated because of her unclean condition.
Jesus wants to heal deep-seated issues in us that have taken root in us and our lives; those things that cause us to do some of the destructive things we do. Perhaps we’ve identified with our issues and have begun to act them out in our lives. Then we wonder what is wrong with us.
Jesus can work with us and help us to face our issues so He can heal us at the root cause of it all. No matter the issue or how long we’ve had it, He can make us free and whole. As we touch Jesus with our faith, His virtue, or power, will set us free so we function the way God created us to function. He can make us healthy, happy, and whole individuals.
Wholeness in the Bible refers to restoration of what was stolen. Peace in the Greek refers to harmonious relationships- between God, man, and our selves. Peace in the Hebrew refers to wholeness, wellbeing, soundness, harmony, and success in all areas of life. All of these can be ours in Jesus as we bring our issues to Him.
