A Separate Economy
Prices have been skyrocketing and many people are struggling to buy groceries and pay their bills. However, according to the Bible, no matter what the world’s economy may be like, we can dwell in prosperity and blessing.
And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. And I will put a division between my people and thy people: to morrow shall this sign be. Exodus 8:22-23 (KJV) emphasis mine
First of all, we must understand that we are citizens of the Kingdom of God, in which there is no lack or want. This means that we may be in this world physically, but we are not subject to the conditions of the world’s system. Just a the children of Israel were living in Egypt, they did not experience the plagues and problems that the Egyptians did because they were separated from it by God. The plagues that devastated Egypt never touched the Israelites. Even now, as God’s people, we are separated from the hardships, plagues, and lack that is in the world. We can claim the favor and blessing of God over our lives- even when everyone else is going through all kinds of loss and need. Stand on the Word and speak abundance into your life, especially when the economy has tanked. Your surroundings don’t control you because you have authority over them in the name of Jesus.
And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham….Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great Genesis 26:1, 12-13 (KJV)
Next, do not stop tithing and sowing. In the midst of a drought, Isaac sowed crops and he reaped a hundredfold harvest. He became very wealthy in the midst of hard times. Keep putting seed in the ground so you can have a continuous harvest. When we trust God over the circumstances, He is pleased by our faith. And God always responds to faith, meeting our needs. And of course, never, ever stop tithing. According to Malachi, tithing is an act that releases God’s provision and causes Him to stop the devil from stealing from us.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:10-12 (KJV)
Don’t allow the conditions of the world markets and economic fluctuations to concern you. If you will do the two things I have noted here, you will see that God really does meet all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus- all the time. You will prosper in the midst of lack. And that is such a witness to the world of the greatness of God.
