His Glorious Glory
And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle…. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen. Exodus 33:11, 13-23 (KJV) emphasis mine
Glory is God’s manifested, weighty presence. It carries His attributes; all that He is and has is in the glory.
When we get caught up in God’s glory, we literally get caught up in God. We could say that God takes us to a place in Him and with Him that we could not get to without Him. We can’t work it up by the flesh, but, as we seek, wait on, and worship God, He is drawn to us. Then God draws us to Him, and we encounter the divine presence, we experience the Name, and we’re empowered by God Himself. We experience God’s presence. We feel God’s touch. We’re carried away by the Spirit into realms of God where we behold God. God manifests Himself: who He really is, not who we think He is or who we’ve been told He is.
All we need is in the glory. Love, joy, peace, wholeness, fulfillment, belonging, identity- even wealth. We come face-to-face with God, and we will never be the same. Nothing and no one can satisfy our thirsty, hungry, longing hearts but God. So we seek God again and again- through His Word, by His Spirit, with all of our hearts. When we desire God we get so desperate for Him that we may even feel we will die if we don’t find Him. Then God steps from behind the veil and reveals Himself in a new way we never experienced before. And once again He catches us up with Him in His glory. God shares Himself with us through glory upon glory so we are more like Jesus. God reveals all we need in the glory by His glory until we experience the Glorious One, the God of Glory.
