Holy Spirit- Your Life Coach
So many people today are calling themselves life coaches. A coach is one who instructs or trains, so does that mean a life coach instructs and trains people how to live? And how do these people qualify themselves for such a role? Do they go to school? Do they have to demonstrate some level of experience or expertise in living life? It’s very vague, and actually a bit troubling to consider. When going to someone for training and instruction on how to live my life, I don’t want to go to a human who is fallible and may have impure motives for helping me. As believers, we have someone much better ask for help with life: Holy Spirit.
But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you. John 14:26 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
This version explains the word Comforter. Holy Spirit acts as our Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener and Standby. He is one who comes alongside us to teach, strengthen, encourage, and help bear the burdens of life. He guides and directs us, showing the the way to go. To me, that sounds like a life coach- only better because He is infallible and helps us out a motive of genuine love. And He is with us at all times.
If you are born-again and have not experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit, you can do it right now. Yes, when you are born-again, the Spirit of Christ comes to live in your spirit. However, you can take it up a notch and experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit operating in you and through you by receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In other words, the Holy Spirit that is in you overflows you and immerses you in the power and person of God. As a result, you can speak in tongues and communicate directly to God without your own intellect getting in the way and without the devil understanding what you are saying. Plus, you can ask God for the interpretation and Holy Spirit will share with you what the conversation has been about. Being filled with the Holy Spirit in such a way opens you up to the supernatural operation of God in your life.
So, the next time you feel like you need to talk with someone and get advice or comfort or words of wisdom, go to Holy Spirit. There is no one who is wiser or more concerned with your welfare than He is. Truly, He is the best Life Coach we can get.
