Turning Loss Into Gain
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Philippians 3:8-10 (KJV)
We all experience losses of many kinds, possibly because of our bad choices or even the bad choices of others. Stop mourning over your losses. Forget regret and get on with your life. Use your losses as launching pads to know Christ better.
God can turn losses into gain. Count your losses as garbage and quit letting them stink up your life. Stop looking at the losses you’ve had and focus on your gain. Don’t let anything get in the way of knowing Jesus Christ and having a close, personal relationship with Him. Don’t be consumed by loss, but be consumed by Christ. Let Him be your one passion. Focus on God, not on losses.
Even if you lose everything, you still gain everything you need with God. Nothing is more important than our relationship with the Lord. Besides, when we choose God, He always gives us back more than what we’ve lost or given up for the Gospel’s sake. The power of Christ’s resurrection raised Jesus up, and that which He had given up was restored to Him- and more. As we follow the example of Jesus and walk in His steps, God will restore our losses- full and overflowing.
Forget your losses and use them to get to know Jesus. If what you had lost was actually holding you back from knowing Jesus, then your loss was Christ’s gain- and your gain too because you gained Christ. Losses show us how much we need Jesus. Jesus is and has all we will ever need. When it comes right down to it, we just need Jesus- and there’s no real loss of any kind in that.
