Something Beautiful

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Acts 3:1-10 (New International Version, NIV)

This man had been crippled from birth. Carried to the temple he sat at the gate called Beautiful each day, begging for handouts. What a contrast that was- a body so deformed sitting at a gate called Beautiful.

God works to make something bad into something beautiful as we get in agreement with Him and get in position to receive. Peter and John ministered Jesus and healing to him. It was faith in the name of Jesus that healed this man.

This man needed more than silver or gold. He needed a healing. When what we have cannot buy what we need, there’s Jesus- no matter how long we’ve been in a bad situation.

Life can make a beggar out of you, but Jesus can make a believer out of you. We are never subject to circumstances when we put our faith in Christ. As we speak the name of Jesus and command healing, things change. As we help and assist others, they will receive the miracle they need.

This man got healed, jumped up, and entered the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. This man’s infirmity was a bad thing, but his healing was a beautiful thing. God turned an ugly ordeal into something beautiful. As we speak the name of Jesus and act in faith doing something we could not do before, God changes things. You move from the position of a beggar into the position of a receiver. You will go forth praising God for the beautiful thing God has done for you and the beautiful life He has made for you.
