His Crowning Creation?

His Crowning Creation?

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. Psalm 8:3-8 (New Living Translation, NLT)

This tells us that mankind is the crowning glory of God’s creation. This is so much so that God has given mankind dominion over all the rest of His creation. Yet, we see parts of humanity acting the fool and doing things that even His creation does not do. The animals of nature do not mate with the same gender. The animals do not try to be a female when they are a male. Even the animal kingdom appears to have more sense than some people. If man is God’s crowning achievement in creation, how can it be that we are seeing such depravity?

There is one simple answer, and it is tied to the fact that we are God’s ultimate creation in the earth. Because God made us to be a little lower than Himself, He gave us something He did not give anything else in creation: free will. God intended for man to bear His image and likeness and to freely choose to serve Him. God’s desire is that we choose Him, but He allows us to make the decision. He will not force us to love Him, because that is not love at all. That’s slavery. Sadly, many choose to remain under the control of the devil.

God loves humanity, which is why Jesus died for us. Adam chose incorrectly, making all humanity slaves to the devil and to sin. Jesus came and purchased our freedom with His own blood so God’s crowning achievement can choose to be what God has made us to be. We can choose to be the shining example of God’s love, wisdom, and power in the earth- or we can choose to act the fool and live low-level, carnal lives without Him.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. Psalm 14:1 (NKJV)

We have the choice to admit there is a God and submit ourselves to Him, or choose to continue to serve the devil and deny the existence of our Creator. When we choose the Lord, we are transformed into His crowning creation, and we can reflect the glory of the Lord throughout the earth.
