Move On

“The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.’” Deuteronomy 1:6 (NKJV)

It seems as if many of us don’t learn our lessons. We go through the same thing over and over again. It's time for us to learn and start to overcome so we can move on. If we keep making the wrong choices we’ll keep ending up with the same results.

For example, if someone makes us angry or does something offensive, instead of holding our peace and walking in love, we respond the same way we always have and we repeat the negative cycle. This is self-defeating and stops our progress. We have to wise up and grow up so we can see the set-up of the enemy. He’s pushing our hot buttons and he expects to get the same reaction he got before. We must stop fighting the same battles over and over.

It is time to take out the giants we are facing. The Israelites had to fight many adversaries in the promised land. Their adversaries were groups like the Midianites, the Amorites, and so on. It seems like everyone they fought was some sort of “ite!” We have to overcome our enemies; the anger-ites, the offense-ites, the lazy-ites, etc. The truth of the matter is that the biggest “ites” are those inside us. We can be our greatest problem.

How do we win? We need to go to the only One who can help. We need to work with the Lord and not against Him. He can and will help us. With His help and the transforming power of His Word, we can conquer our carnal minds, bad attitudes, wrong speaking, bad behavior patterns, and poor choices. It is a process, so we must be patient, be consistent, and celebrate each small victory.

As we keep with it, we can move forward and conquer the land that is before us. We can take the ground that the enemy has held for so long. We will obtain the promises of God that always seemed just out of reach. Walls will fall, and giants will be slain, and we will take possession of our inheritance in Christ.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. II Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

We must choose our battles wisely and only fight when the Lord tells us to. If we do, He will cause us to triumph, and we will move on from the mountain where we camped for so long.
