Good Things Are Coming
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 23:6 (KJV)
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (KJV)
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. James 5:11 (KJV)
No matter what we face or go through, Psalm 23 reassures us that the Lord is always our Shepherd. He is with us to lead, protect, and provide for us. In every situation, God is working things out for our good.
In Psalm 23:6 David uses the word surely, which means that it is a sure thing that the Lord’s goodness and His mercy, or His unfailing love, is with us all the way. Because God is with us, His goodness and mercy are always with us. We have a place in His presence forever.
God is always behind the scenes working for our benefit, regardless of what we’ve lost, to give us double for our trouble. Those who endure are counted happy for in the end we will see that God will turn all things for our good. God tells us to look at the end of what Job went through. God paid Job back for everything the devil did to him.
God is good and just and always has the final say. He has the upper hand. When God moves His hand, He brings goodness out of bad and wrong is made right. He pays us back for all that we endured, and in the end we will see the Lord’s goodness, love, and restoration.
