Getting Closer and Closer to God
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. If we want to experience more of God, we have to press into God. Pressing into God means getting closer and closer to God, spirit to Spirit. The more we press into God, the more God presses into us, meaning He reveals Himself and overwhelms us with His awesome presence.
As we press into God with heartfelt worship, we touch His heart. He then touches our hearts, and true fellowship is experienced.
We press into God by seeking Him and waiting on Him. When we seek Him, we will find Him- right where He’s always been- waiting on us to press into Him. When we love, seek, and worship God with our whole being, God will be found. And we will be filled to overflowing with God and all He is- love, goodness, power, glory….
Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:8 (New International version, NIV)
When we draw near, or close to God, God exposes us to more of Himself and we receive a deeper revelation of who He is and thus a deeper relationship is established. Press into God- get closer and closer to Him- to receive more of Him.
