We Are Lions
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 (KJV)
A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; Proverbs 30:30 (KJV)
The Bible says that Christians are like lions. A lion represents kingship, royalty, rulership, majesty, strength, courage, boldness, fearlessness, and bravery. Jesus is called the Lion of the tribe of Judah and we are to be like Him.
Kingship
A lion is called the king of the jungle. Jesus is the King of kings. We are kings and we are to reign in this life with Christ. A lion dominates his turf and we are to do the same.
Strength
A lion is stronger than any beast according to Proverbs 30:30. None can defeat him. Jesus has never been defeated. Instead, He defeated death, hell, and the grave. He gave us this same victory. He is stronger than anyone or anything- and He is our strength.
Courage
A lion is courageous, and we are also strong and courageous.
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Joshua conquered the enemy and took territory from them, and Jesus did the same against the devil. We are to be courageous to take back what the enemy has stolen- and to even gain ground. We are to tread upon the enemy and recover all.
Boldness
A lion is bold.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31 (KJV)
In Acts, the believers spoke the Word with boldness. A lion roars and others fear it. We are bold as lions. People will see our boldness as we speak the Word just as they saw the boldness of the early apostles.
Conclusion
A lion stands his ground and fights for what is his. Regardless of our physical strength, we can be strong, courageous, brave, and fearless on the inside, standing up against anything the enemy may use to attack us. Lion qualities don’t mean we have to go out and physically tear things apart. Usually, our lion qualities show up in inner strength and spiritual boldness. When needed, we can demonstrate lion qualities externally, but mostly we use them to stand in the spiritual realm and conquer the enemy.
And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains; I Chronicles 12:8 (KJV)
These men from the tribe of Gad were said to have faces like the faces of lions. In other words, they looked fierce and showed no fear. Their expression remained the same no matter what. Never let the devil read you. Don’t give him any reason to think he has you rattled. Just keep a calm, cool demeanor and use your authority to run him off. Child of God, you are a lion like your King Jesus. Never let the devil forget it.
