He Radiates Love
There are many verses in the Bible that I love, but one of my favorite verses is Psalm 84:11.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly. Psalm 84:11 (NKJV)
How comforting it is to have this verse to remind us that the Lord is pleased to bless us with good as long as we are walking with Him. It describes God as a sun and shield, which describes both the brightness of His presence and His protection over us. He radiates love and will not hold back anything good from us. He empowers us to live a victorious life through His grace, or His ability working on our behalf.
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue II Peter 1:3 (KJV)
I like how that verse reads in The Passion Translation:
Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. II Peter 1:3 (TPT)
As we consider these verses, there’s nothing complex about their intended meaning. Our God is a good God and it gives Him pleasure to do us good. Today as you go about your business, tell yourself, “God is good and He loves to do good for me.” No matter what comes up, that truth will help you keep things in perspective. As long as you know God is ready and willing to be good to you, you will view any challenge or problem as the temporary issue that it is. Situations come and go, and trials eventually end, but the goodness and mercy of God go on forever.
O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. I Chronicles 16:34 (KJV)
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32 (KJV)
The Lord is good. Goodness describes who He is, therefore anything He does is good. God is not holding any good thing back from you. He gets great joy and pleasure from being good to His children.
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. James 1:7 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
