Fruit, More Fruit, Much Fruit
And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: Isaiah 37:31 (KJV) emphasis mine
Have you ever felt God digging around down deep inside you? God does His deepest work down deep where people can’t see what’s going on. Sometimes when God goes deep it can be uncomfortable, even painful. Don’t fight God when He does His deep work in you- like breaking up the ground of your heart. Your heart may be hard in certain places, so God has to break it up, making it soft. He has to prepare the ground so the seed of His Word can take root in your heart.
The deeper the root, the more fruit you can bear. A deep root holds up a tree so it can handle the fruit it bears. If not, it could become top-heavy and weighted down with fruit, and it may fall. We must be rooted and grounded in God’s love so the fruit we produce will remain.
If something in your life seems to be taking a long time to come to pass, longer than you’d like, it can mean that God has big plans for you. Therefore, He is giving you time to sink your roots deep into Him, His Word, and His Spirit. Then, the work He has for you will stand, and your fruit will remain.
God call us to bear fruit, more fruit, and much fruit.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.. John 15:1-8 (KJV)
This is a growth process. The deeper our roots go, the more we are maturing in God. The fruit speaks of our productivity for God’s kingdom based on our level of maturity in Him. So, the deeper the root, the more fruit we will bring forth.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. Mark 4:8 (KJV)
Will we produce 30 fold, 60 fold, or 100 fold? The ground of our heart and the depth of our roots determine that. Compare Mark 4:8 with our passage above from John. Fruit is 30 fold. More fruit is 60 fold. Much fruit is 100 fold. The deeper we sink our roots into God, we’ll go from fruit to more fruit to much fruit, and our lives will bring glory to the Father.
