God Is Made Known- Part 1
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Psalm 22:3 (KJV)
The word inhabitest in Hebrew means is enthroned. It is a reference to one who sat down at the city gate in Old Testament times and took his judgment seat to hold court. It points to someone in a position to judge and rule. God is that Judge, and He will pass judgment as we praise Him.
Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord. Psalm 149:1-9 (KJV) emphasis mine
Psalm 149 speaks of God’s judgment. As we praise God, His judgment is passed on our enemies. What was wrong, God makes right.
As we read this Psalm, we see that it instructs us to sing to the Lord a new song, to sing praises aloud, and to give our praise to God. The results are that vengeance is executed, or carried out. Punishment, or a sentence, is given. Kings and leaders are bound and the judgment is enforced.
As we praise God, we will see justice served. Wrongs will be made right and what was stolen will be restored. God has given us praise to call Him on the scene, enthroning Him so we can bring our case to the courts of heaven to the Judge of the universe. God will pass down verdicts of justice, a righteous sentence to those who have hurt us and stolen from us.
No matter how things look, if we will sing to the Lord a new song, our own spontaneous praise to Him, He passes sentence upon the wicked and justice is served.
To see things turn around, praise God with tehila praises, or long, spontaneous praises. The more we do this, the more God will turn everything around. God sits down in His judgment seat in the midst of our spontaneous praises. He is enthroned there and will abide and remain as we praise Him. In our praises, He will make Himself known.
